At 30, something shifted in how my friends and I talk about money. We started having real conversations about what we are investing in, whether the housing market in Denver will ever make sense, how to set up a 401k, and whether a high-yield savings account is worth it. Working in finance for the past several years has made me a go-to for these questions. What should I be investing in? What brokerage should I use? What is a good savings account right now?
I was happy to help. But it also made me look more honestly at my own finances. Even with a finance background, the picture was not as clear as it should have been. What are my current investments actually costing me? Is a target date fund really the best option for my 401k? How should I be splitting my savings across retirement accounts, an emergency fund, and student loan payments, and how do I decide what to invest so I am actually making progress toward something?
The more I thought about it, the more I realized the tools available to answer these questions were either too expensive, too generic, or built by someone who profits from steering you in a particular direction.
So I started building OraFi.
OraFi is a free financial clarity tool being built to give you a complete picture of your finances in plain English. No jargon, no conflicts, no monthly subscription. It is designed to show you where your money stands right now, give you a clear path toward your specific goals, whether that is a home, a vacation, or retirement, and help you understand your investment options without needing to pay a financial planner to explain them.
"Unlike most financial tools, OraFi will always be free. Because if you are working to save your money, you should not have to hand any of it back to access basic financial clarity."
Here Is What Is Being Built
OraFi is organized around three tabs that together give you a complete picture of your financial life. Here is a first look at each one.
Your complete financial picture in one place. See your total net worth, how it has grown over time, and how you compare to peers at your age and income level.
Set real financial goals and see exactly what it takes to reach them. A down payment, a new car, retirement — each goal gets its own timeline, progress bar, and monthly target.
Understand your investment options in plain English. Expense ratios, 10-year returns, and what each fund actually does — explained clearly without the jargon.
Why Free, Always
Every alternative in this space either charges a monthly subscription, earns commissions from the products they recommend, or both. OraFi does neither. Founding members who join the waitlist now get free access forever, including when premium features are eventually added.
Who It Is For
OraFi is being built for people in their 20s and 30s who have money saved and want to make sure it is working as hard as it could be. People who feel like they should understand their finances better but every tool they try either confuses them, costs money, or feels like it is trying to sell them something.
If you have ever Googled what to do with your savings, wondered whether your 401k allocation makes sense, or felt like you were probably missing something obvious about your money — OraFi is being built for you.
